Welcome to Woodside Animal Clinic in Royal Oak. Our veterinarian, Dr. John Simon, has been providing compassionate medical care and holistic treatments to Royal Oak, Berkley & Ferndale pets for over 30 years. Our veterinary hospital provides care for dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, ferrets, guinea pigs, small rodents, iguanas and turtles.
At Woodside Animal Clinic, our approach to veterinary care is different from many animal hospitals. Our small animal vet clinic is a very personal, one doctor practice where you can be assured of seeing the same veterinarian on each and every visit. Where many large, multi doctor practices use technicians to leverage the veterinarian's time, Woodside Animal Hospital does not believe in using technicians to provide procedures best performed by a veterinarian. Dr. Simon, not a technician, will take your pet's detailed medical history because we know how important it is that the right questions be asked and that a complete and thorough evaluation be made. He also personally rechecks and oversees the work of the technician. This elevated level of service and attention allows our veterinarian to develop a stronger relationship with you and your pet and, consequently, will provide you a greater level of confidence.
Our philosophy, 'The Care We Give is More than Medical,' shines through in everything we do. Be assured that we will always treat your pets as if they were our own. We see your pet as a valued family member and see you as your pets guardian and not as their owner. Dr. Simon considers himself to be your second 'family doctor' and is committed to providing you and your pet with a very personal veterinary health care experience.
As a holistic veterinarian, Dr. Simon combines his expertise in traditional veterinary medicine with his skill in natural, alternative health care. Holistic treatments, such as pet acupuncture or chiropractic therapy, can help pets manage pain or recover from injury when traditional medicine fails. Dr. Simon was the first certified veterinary acupuncturist and animal chiropractor in the greater Detroit area and, as Royal Oak's leading holistic veterinarian, Dr. Simon continues to pioneer the field of alternative, natural treatments.
We recognize that all pet guardians have different care preferences, so our veterinary hospital provides appointments tailored to both traditional and holistic health care. Preventive veterinary care is at the core of every appointment. Our animal hospital strongly believes that the best way to keep your pet healthy and happy is to prevent the onset of disease and avoid the development of chronic inflammatory conditions, saving your pet from pain and discomfort and you from expensive veterinary bills.
Our animal hospital has its own in-house diagnostic lab that performs stool and urine tests, blood screening, skin cytology, heartworm testing, and Feline Leukemia and FIV screens. Our full service pharmacy is stocked not only with the latest pet drugs but also with a full range of nutritional, herbal and homeopathic supplements. Our veterinary hospital provides routine wellness screenings, vaccinations, spay/neuter procedures, declawing, dental care, soft tissue surgeries, radiology, dermatology and allergy evaluation/treatment.
Holistic health care at our small animal vet clinic includes nutritional consulting, acupuncture, chiropractic, soft laser therapy, pulsed magnetic therapy, herbal therapy, homotoxicology, cryo-surgery, prolotherapy, bioresonance therapy and stem cell therapy. Since holistic treatments typically require greater explanation and discussion, these appointments can often require up to twice as long as traditional appointments. Therefore, we request that you let us know, when you make your appointment, which type of care you prefer so we can schedule the appropriate amount of time. You should know that Dr. Simon hates to feel rushed so even our shorter traditional appointments are scheduled for a longer visit than most other clinics.
Dr. Simon is an acknowledged author who often writes for "Natural Awakenings" a national, natural health magazine. He has published 4 pet health care books and has written numerous articles for other magazines and newspapers. He regularly sends emails, alerting pet caretakers about the latest advancements in veterinary health care. Be sure to sign up for our e-newsletter notifications! For helpful pet care tips, including a wellness checklist, be sure to read Dr. Simon's blog. The blog is also a great place to learn about dangers of environmental toxins, infectious disease threats, as well as nutritional and herbal remedies.
You should have confidence knowing that Dr. Simon is constantly searching for newer more effective methods to prevent or treat emerging health care issues. As soon as he discovers a new health concern or a more effective therapy he will let all of his clients know via an email newsletter or email health alert. It is important we have your email in order to keep you current.
Because Dr. Simon practices both holistic and traditional medicine he is able to offer his clients the best of both worlds or at least a choice as to how they would like him to approach their pet's health problems. Consequently, we are proud to say that Woodside Animal Clinic provides its clientele with a much broader scope of health care option than most other clinics.
Dr. Simon is a very well respected member of the greater Detroit veterinary community and has not only served as a past president of the Oakland County Veterinary Medical Association but has also served on the board of directors of the Southeastern Michigan Veterinary Medical Association (SEMVMA). He has been awarded plaques from both the SEMVMA and the Michigan Veterinary Medical Association (MVMA) for his efforts to enhance the image of the veterinary profession. He has also been a member in good standing of the American Veterinary Medical Association for over 30 years. Dr. Simon is very proud to say that in over 30 years of active practice he never had any legal action taken against him and not one of his client has ever filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.
Finally, we will do everything we can to earn your trust and confidence. We encourage you to communicate with us openly and frankly so we can provide you with the very best medical care and hope this will be the beginning of a long and mutually rewarding relationship.
We know how deeply you care about you pet and we want you to know that is how much we care as well!
