About Our Practice
We offer our clients a small, very personal, one-doctor practice. At Woodside Animal Clinic you can be assured that your pet will always see the same doctor. You will see Dr. Simon each and every time you visit his clinic and, consequently, he will become much better acquainted with your pet.
Years ago, Dr. Simon made the decision to keep his practice small so that he would be able to schedule more time for each patient visit. Dr. Simon does not like to feel rushed, and the longer appointments allows him the time to take a thorough history, to perform a more complete exam, to educate his clients on methods of disease prevention and to provide clients more time to ask questions they may have.
Where large, multi doctor clinics often utilize technicians and assistants to reduce the time each doctor must spend in the exam room, Dr. Simon prefers to take the pet's history himself and to perform many of the diagnostic procedures and treatments commonly performed by technicians. Dr. Simon also prefers to be the one to provide clients with pet health education and to personally answer his clients concerns. Dr. Simon would like to be viewed as a "pet health care coach" who welcomes the pet's guardian as part of his team and teaches him or her how to keep their pet free of disease.
Because Dr. Simon practices both holistic and conventional medicine he is able to offer his clients the best of both worlds or at least a choice as to how they would like him to approach their pet's health problems. At Woodside our practice is divided between those who prefer their pets receive only conventional medical care and those who prefer the holistic approach. Because holistic health care requires more client education and more time for client questions, holistic appointments often take twice as long as their conventional counter part. Consequently, it is important that each client make known his or her preference so we can schedule the appropriate amount of time.
Finally, we would like you to know that Dr. Simon considers himself to be your other family doctor. He considers you as the pet's guardian, not the pet's owner, and your pet as a valuable relationship you are privileged have and not as a thing that you happen to own. Woodside Animal Clinic is a very good choice for those pet care givers who would prefer a more intimate health care experience for their pet.
